Marionette's Notes
Where as most of my stories and pictures are created because I wanted to, this came out of nowhere, and I have no real clue to where it's going. Sorry if this bugs anyone, but the Puppet Master pulls my strings, and I obey. For spoilers, random babble, a possibility of a crossover, and generally late night insanity, go read the
conversation between Yumemi-sama and myself. *major spoilers for those who care*
Alternate Earth designation 616, Archaic-Christian Calendar Year 2000:
I was informed - by the single soul who was kind enough to bother replying to me when I sent this out - that Earth 616 is actually an Earth variant used in Marvel comics. I was unaware of this, and meant no infringement on anyone's copyrights. 616 is actually synonymous with 666 and originate from the Hebrew alphabetical/numerical system. When one takes the name and title of the Roman emperor Nero, and converts it to Hebrew, then into numbers, they will come up with either 616 or 666. Because of the light in which Nero was viewed, the numbers later became associated with Satan. I chose 616 as it is less known, and not as likely to earn me flames from God-fearing Christian wackos. (sorry...it's happened)
As for the year - I decided to stick with something nice and simple, yet that also had a slight emphasis. This world is not what I expect ours to be, but is not completely different. The technology is a bit increased, the environment is deteriorated, and the supernatural is slightly more common.
Religion:
There are very few members of the Old Religions (comparable to Christianity, Judaism, Hebrew, Buddhism, Islam, etc.) left, as the presence of Demons and Vampires have eroded at Faith. This does not mean that there are more religions leaning toward Satanism, but rather that most people are agnostic at best, more often atheistic, and only half-way acknowledging the presence of Demons and their ilk.
Demons:
Demons are creatures of Satan, old as Time himself -herself?. They are controlled either by rings, which He has handed out as He sees fit, or answer directly to Him. Demons can not lie, but have become very good at telling bits of the truth and skirting around the issue. They can not be destroyed and can only come to harm if they decide not to move out of the way. These few facts are based off of yarns done with Yumemi-sama and anything we could get out of Charon (her resident demon). For more, she's has supplied me with a nice little
FAQ of sorts.
Vampires:
Traditional in some ways, mine in others. Vampires are strictly night creatures, and will be destroyed upon the touch of sunlight. They must feed, and will eventually die without the blood that sustains them. While it isn't common practice, Vampires may duel between each other, usually as the result of a property dispute or a power quest with duels always ending in the death of one or both participants. The only other way they can be harmed is the presence of gold. The purity of the gold and the amount of time a vampire spends in its presence will determine the amount of damage done. To kill a Vampire, the gold must be used in the form of a dagger or a bullet and deliver a wound which would be fatal to a human. (i.e.- Execution style shootings, slit throat, or a dagger through the heart. Anyone ever thought about the fact that gold bullets would make one Hell of a mushroom load?)
Oddly enough, Vampires and Demons do NOT get along. Vampires believe Demons to be Satan's pawns, while Demons view Vampires as unruly and inferior. There is no real cause for bad blood between the two factions, but the feud still stands.
Bleeding, Taking, Binding, Making, Breaking:
The Bleeding is the taking of blood from humans without actually killing them; no marks are left on the skin if the Vampire takes the time and energy to remove them. Most humans will remember nothing, and experience slight lethargy and/or increased hunger afterwards. Those with slightly higher empathic skills, or under the influence of a young or weak vampire may be more inclined to remember bits and pieces, but despite the knowledge of Vampires, it is usually passed off as a dream.
The Taking is the draining of all blood, and the subsequent death of the Vampire's prey. Many of the older vampires do this as a sign of power, while younger ones do it out of lack of control. Some of the older Vampires will still remove the traces of their feeding, but most do not bother. Taking may also occur when a Vampire has been starved through one method or another and is under the influence of a Blood Frenzy.
The Binding is the binding of a mortal to a vampire through the taking of their blood. Most often, more blood is taken than a normal Bleeding and the vampire has to consciously want to bind their victim to themselves and the human must not be resistant. This does not occur often because it can create a weak point that can be exploited. The Binding will often create an empathic or telepathic bond between the human and the vampire, which can be both advantageous and a weak point.
Intended - One being courted and/or seduced into a Binding. Often if Love comes into the picture then the Binding is not of a spontaneous origin.
The Making is the exchange of blood between a human and a vampire to turn the human to Vampire. Bonds, such as in a Binding, are formed but deteriorate over time. Often those Made are bitter, and will later challenge their creator in a match that ends only at death. Some do not survive the Making, being too weak of body or rejecting the change outright and starving themselves to death. The Making destroys the human "soul" ensuring no afterlife upon the destruction of the Vampire.
The Breaking occurs when a human kills the vampire they are bonded to. Because of the bond between human and vampire, this will always result in the death of the human. While few Bonded pairs exist even fewer of the bonded humans even know of, much less consider, this course of action. Those who do were often confused when they were Bound or, more often, are suicidal remnants of the Old Religions.
Theron Jaegerin:
Hungarian for "Hunter" and German for "Huntress", Theron Jaegerin was the name given to the child with the soul that was coerced by Death to seek vengeance against the Vampires that were not under His control. The soul has been around for a few millennia, yet not a constant presence on the earth. With each new life Death presents himself and the terms of the Pact.
This lifetime is something of an oddity. Not only is it the first time that the soul of the girl child was reincarnated in male form, but at 18, it was the latest that the Hunter had ever been awoken. Perhaps a side affect, perhaps an oversight of Death, Theron only remembers his first life and often has trouble distinguishing between the two sets of memories. For this, and other surfacing factors, Theron is bitter of his fate and often suicidal in his pursuits.
Theron is, and has always been, blond haired and light violet-eyed. He stands 5' 9" and generally dresses in formal black attire, whether night or day.
Anasztaizia:
Hungarian variant of Anastasia, meaning "She Shall Rise Again", Anasztaizia was the given name to Theron's first incarnation.
Chade Danior:
Chade being pronounced 'Shade' with only a slight 'ch' emphasis and Danior being Old English Gypsy for "Born with Teeth", the name is a conceit used by the vampire-demon in place of his given name which he remembers but refuses to use.
Born to a young church-mouse in 1245 A.C.C. and sired by an unknown Demon, Chade spent the first few years of his life being raised by priests who were unaware that he's mother's demented babblings of "demon child" were quite true. Upon his mother's suicide, the priests turned him over to a nobleman for safekeeping in the hopes that he would not be tainted by his mother's "dreadful act". Little is known of the nobleman, though Chade once said that life would've been easier with the priests even if they had known he was a demon. He was Made and acquired his Demon powers as a backlash/survival instinct of sorts.
Chade is naturally fair of skin, red-headed (crimson blood, not strawberry blond), and blue slit-pupil eyes. As a demon he could shape-shift, but rarely -if ever- does. He stands 6' even and dresses as he sees fit - which is generally skin-tight and mostly black. As a Demon half blood he can withstand sunlight, but being fair of skin and a Vampire leads him to avoid it more often than not.
Marionette's Babblings:
Damn straight (A few answers to questions I have and have not yet received):
It takes forever to find names with actual *significance* behind them. I must thank Yumemi-sama for Jaegerin, for I was rather clueless as to a last name for Theron.
I know Chade's name - and I just sat back and blinked for a while. Poor Boy. He might let me share, but no guarantees.
There is significance behind 1245 A.C.C. - Well, not 1245 per say, but it was derived from another important number. I'd put it in the FAQ, but I wanna make Yumemi-sama squirm ^______^ ::ducks::
Hey, Yumemi-sama! Wanna know why I'm drawing that #&%$@!$ Cathedral? Heh heh heh. ::flees::
